VT
Any thoughts on the recent shootings in Virginia? Aside from the obvious one: 33 people dead in VA; approx 200 dead per day in Iraq. Equal press coverage? hell no, but perhaps more than expected. Two things I note are, one that european countries (and others) that outlaw guns have a dramatically lower murder rate, specifically related to shooting deaths (A statistic I read, that in 2006, Britain had 30 gun related deaths and NYC had 580). Second, would the death toll have been lower, had the kids at this school been taught self-defence (I hear reports that students watched on, while the shooter reloaded and then shot them.)? Have we become complacent in our education system/society?
